I am the author of&nbsp;Sugar Work, my debut poetry collection, which was selected as the Editor’s Choice for the 2020 Alice James Book Award.&nbsp; For the past five years, I have been creating a body of performance work and a second poetry collection (DRUM), both of which consider grief and the intersecting worlds of dance and poetry in the Caribbean and Southern United States. My origin story begins in Atlanta, Georgia where my father played and built drum kits.&nbsp; I also work as a literary translator. Animal Spiral, my translation of Luis Othoniel Rosa’s novel&nbsp;El gato en el remolino is forthcoming from Charco Press in June 2026. And I have completed a translation of Nicole Cecilia Delgado’s pivotal poetry collection añosluz (2010); we are currently seeking a publisher for a bilingual edition. Delgado is the founder and co-director of La Impresora, a small-scale editorial studio and poetry press in Isabela, Puerto Rico. More about that beautiful work&nbsp;here.&nbsp; I earned my BA in Spanish from Westmont College, an MFA in Poetry from Bennington College, and a PhD in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where I taught for three years as a Lecturer and the Assistant Director of Composition. This fall (2026), I will start as an Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Murray State University, a little closer to my beloved southlands.&nbsp; I occasionally take on poetry manuscript consultations at a sliding scale. Craig. With support from the Nebraska Arts Council, the project originally showed in my backyard and then on Centennial Mall in Lincoln, NE as a part of the Lincoln PoPs: Global Frequencies public art exposition (Fall 2019). García (Sound Engineer), Katie Schmid,&nbsp;Luis Othoniel Rosa, Laura García, Ava&nbsp;Winter, Dan Winter, Lucas Farrell Long, Hilary Trainor, James Hapke, and WAI Think Tank.
